Archiving Policy

How content published in Head and Neck Diseases Conflux (ISSN 3079-6008) is preserved for the long term. This page records the preservation arrangements in place today, including deposit with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).

Current Preservation Status

Head and Neck Diseases Conflux preserves its published content through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a LOCKSS-based private preservation network operated by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

The journal records this arrangement openly so that authors, readers, libraries, and indexing services can assess its preservation arrangements accurately rather than from assumptions.

Status: the PKP PN plugin is enabled on the journal's OJS platform (OJS 3.4, ojs.lifeconfluxpress.com). Published issues are packaged and deposited to the PKP PN staging server, and the deposited content is replicated across participating LOCKSS nodes.

Measures Currently in Place

The following complementary safeguards apply to all content published in the journal:

  • Redundant backups Multiple copies of published content, including article files, are maintained across redundant server backups by the publisher, Life Conflux Press Limited.
  • ISSN registration The journal's ISSN (3079-6008) is registered with the national ISSN centre, so the title is recorded in the international ISSN register.
  • Persistent identifiers Every published article is assigned a DOI registered with Crossref under the journal's prefix 10.71321. The DOI provides a stable link to the article independently of any future change to the journal's web address or publishing platform.
  • Open licensing Articles are published under CC BY 4.0, which permits libraries, repositories, and any other party to retain and redistribute the published version without seeking permission. Copies of the journal's content can therefore be held independently of the journal's own systems.
Authors seeking a copy of any published article for repository deposit, library holdings, or personal archiving may request it from the editorial office. The CC BY 4.0 licence permits redistribution, so no permission is required.

External Preservation: How It Works

The journal is published on Open Journal Systems (OJS), the open-source scholarly publishing platform maintained by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

The PKP Preservation Network is the preservation service operated by PKP for journals published on OJS. Deposited content is held on replicated LOCKSS nodes independent of the journal's own infrastructure, so the published record does not depend on any single server or system remaining available.

Commitment to Long-Term Preservation

The editorial office and the publisher, Life Conflux Press Limited, intend that every article published in the journal remains available to readers permanently. The journal is committed to:

  • Maintaining access Keeping published articles freely available on the journal's website, and maintaining the server backups described above.
  • Sustaining DOI links Maintaining registered DOIs so that each article remains reachable through a stable link even if the platform or web address changes.
  • Maintaining external preservation Maintaining the deposit of the journal's content with the PKP Preservation Network, and recording any change to that arrangement on this page.
  • Reviewing this policy Updating this page whenever the journal's preservation arrangements change.
